Bandwidth is “unmetered,” meaning that there is no hard limit enforced. However, we must require full compliance with our Terms of Service in regards to bandwidth utilization. We will contact you with any concerns regarding your use.

TMDHosting is the cheapest of our four finalists. Compared to FastComet, GlowHost, and InMotion, its service plans are less expensive at almost every tier. The cost savings aren’t huge — at most, $36 per year — but if you don’t feel you need the specific features offered by our top picks, there’s no reason to avoid TMD. The company was one of only six web hosts to actually answer our email. Their response was short and professional, and while we had to rephrase our questions a few times on the phone and in live chat to get the answer we were looking for, we eventually got what we needed. Of note for beginners: while the company provides a basic Site Publisher tool, if you’re looking for a more robust website builder, you’ll want to look elsewhere.

We also tested live chat during busy business hours and after normal business hours, evaluating how quickly we were connected with a representative as well as the response time between each question. The service with the fastest response time is GreenGeeks.

It’s quite easy to get overwhelmed with all the information overload. Often users read this guide, and email us asking for personalized recommendation on which WordPress hosting is best for their needs.

Our free shared SSL certificate is great for securing a connection to your server not seen by the public. It features an A2 Hosting domain name in place of your domain name. The URL format for our shared SSL looks similar to:

I used the same domain name for every testing site with a different subdomain. I didn’t want the chance of any latency showing up in results because each testing site had a separate domain with a potentially separate registrar.

Rather than storing data on physical servers, cloud customers are hosted on a connected network of virtual machines. The service is software-independent and perfect for folks who benefit from high availability and on-demand, pay-as-you-go resources. Ranked #1 for cloud-based VPS hosting, InMotion offers performance-enhancing SSDs, free data backups, and managed server options.

Several years ago, I was helping a client migrate their website over to WP Engine, as they’d recently started using WordPress and wanted a hosting solution that was optimised for WordPress. Not only was moving the site to WP Engine one of the migrations I’ve ever seen, but WP Engine’s support were incredible.

Please note: Most hosting companies have Terms Of Service limiting hosting of illegal and/or potentialy offending contents, including “warez”, copyright violations and adult hosting. If you are unsure, please make sure to read the TOS before signing up.

WordPress hosting is for people who want to build their sites on the back of the popular WordPress content management system (CMS). Many WordPress hosts automatically handle backend stuff, so you don’t have to worry about updating the apps and CMS, and enabling automatic backups.

But sister companies Midphase and WestHost were unexpectedly difficult to deal with: After we’d waited a full day, we got follow-up emails that our accounts had been canceled and refunded, with no chance for us to verify our information. When we called and chatted MidPhase to figure out what had happened, we were hung up on repeatedly and finally received an email curtly informing us to “take our business elsewhere.” Ouch.

Bluehost’s performance was lackluster. As traffic increased so did response time, almost following the same steep climb. Even at lower user counts the response time jumped around quite a bit, ranging anywhere from 1 to 3.5 seconds with only 10 active users. As Bluehost approached the 20 user mark load times skyrocketed to over 10 seconds. They did come back down, but performance was still highly inconsistent with huge variances from one second to the next.

If you have a WordPress web site, InMotion not only provides you with a WordPress-optimized hosting plan, but also pre-installs WordPress, offers free themes, and includes a free drag-and-drop website builder. Given its US support and culture, InMotion is a company we’d recommend first for users based in the US. Read More

Thank your for this post. It is just unbelievably FRUSTRATING trying to find information on hosts for WordPress. Currently I’m with Hawk Host, which was recommended to me, but service there is by email only and spotty at best. If WP Engine really delivers on the promised security and expertise, it would be worth paying for.

As noted above, because of a DNS propagation issue we actually made a mistake with one of our tests so we ran Site5 through the gamut again, and again they did very well. While their minimum response time was higher than initially reported, their max response time was lower than we initially reported. Throughout the majority of the ten minute load testing, Site5’s server response time stayed steady at 750ms to 1 second with only a handful of deviations.

Founded over 13 years ago, Bluehost is regarded as the best web hosting company for beginners and small businesses. As a customer, I can vouch for the fact that they offer a great service at a very affordable price.

Stay away from all hosts that use the Fraud Service Site Lock… in this list Blue Host and Host Gator are using that service and will suck 300 out of your pocket to fix problems that do not exist. IMHO this list SUCKs

Choosing is simple: select hosting that will support the script, platform, or CMS you want to use. And if you aren’t sure, go for Linux hosting. For example, WordPress will run on Linux and Windows, but hosts generally recommend that you run it on Linux. However, if you want to use a Windows-specific technology like ASP.NET, you’ll need a Windows host.

The aforementioned features are valuable to the web hosting experience, but none matches the importance of site uptime. If your site is down, clients or customers will be unable to find you or access your products or services.

Our Build It For Me (BIFM) professional design plans take the hassle out of creating a website for your business. Your website is built to be mobile friendly so it will look great on all screens and devices. After choosing your BIFM plan you’ll be up and running in a few simple steps.

Consumers expect every business they encounter to have a website. Luckily, it’s easier than ever for businesses of all sizes to create them, as many web hosting services provide drag-and-drop website builders. You don’t need coding skills or technical know-how to quickly and easily create attractive, functional websites based on prebuilt templates and themes.

Please keep in mind that in a few cases, we have had to work with customers to reduce the number of files they are using. Typically, these file counts are in the tens of thousands, and we’ve been able to help our customers manage them effectively.

Overall, we were impressed with how customer-centric the company’s offerings are. For example, unlike some of the hosting providers we’ve profiled (and deducted points from), MochaHost’s published prices don’t balloon once you’ve settled in with their service. They have a lifetime price-lock guarantee.

I ve been using Bluehost since 2011 first with a basic account – time loading disaster, but I was not enough experienced user to notice that and I loved their Cpanel, chat support was friendly and helping at that time. Starting Jan 2017 a new Pro account with them I found some tech problem which they apparently don’t want to solve and don’t care if I remain their client.

Top Ten Reviews has reviewed web hosting services going on 12 years. We’ve evaluated 45 services, hundreds of plans and spent 300 hours testing and evaluating providers. This year was no exception: We pored over services, analyzed the best plans, created our own websites, and evaluated and ranked these services to help individuals and small business owners find the very best web hosting service that won’t bust the budget.

To be completely honest, I often use a separate service for mail (SendinBlue & ActiveCampaign). However, we I have a few email addresses with Bluehost and Dreamhost, both of which seem to work well. I’ve never ran into any problems with them.

Thank you for the great guide! In your experience, have you observed a host with particularly good email service? I know there are ways around using the host’s email service, but I would like it to be a useful option. Do any hosts offer great mail delivery and possibly spam detection that you know of? My current host is always rejecting emails sent to my domain name addresses, and they are from known contacts. It’s so maddening 😐

Our proactive protection against malicious hackers and security threats! Our Perpetual Security is unrelenting and constant hosting protection, squashing threats before they potentially develop into something larger. Main Perpetual Security features:

All of us have been in a position where we were unable to find the most suitable host or even knew what kind of web hosting service we needed. We decided to take action and went on with the idea of making full, in-depth web hosting reviews about each and every hosting provider on the Internet. Furthermore, we’ve also made a lot of great website tools that we hope will help you a lot. For example, enter the names of the providers you want to compare in the boxes below. We will run through some numbers, look at our and user reviews and show you the verdict which host is better than the other.

Small business owners will want to focus on paid web hosting services. You get your own unique domain, which offers more credibility than subdomains, plus many services offer unlimited disk space and bandwidth as well as security features to protect customers from malware or hackers.
I came upon this site for one reason and one reason only – that I am DESPERATE to leave Bluehost. Over the last two weeks my sites have been down (COMPLETELY down – I can’t access the editor at all and people receive an error message when trying to visit them) about a dozen times that I’ve come across, sometimes for hours at a time. At other times they’ve been so slow that tiny little changes – adding a page to the menu, changing the order of pages in the menu – take minutes, and a page with nothing but a couple thousand words of text and one 200 kB image can take a minute or far, far more to load. Until I change hosts, I’ve essentially given up on my site – it’s excruciating to edit, and I do not want to market it for fear that somebody will attempt to view it for the first time, find it unavailable or unusable, and never return. Bluehost is the stuff of nightmares, and my primary goal in life right now is to find somebody reliable.
