However, note that such refunds typically cover only web hosting fees. If you received a free domain as part of your purchase, the web host might deduct the cost of registering your domain from your refund. You should also know that things like setup fees, services (such as migration services), and VPS/dedicated servers tend not to be refundable.

I came upon this site for one reason and one reason only – that I am DESPERATE to leave Bluehost. Over the last two weeks my sites have been down (COMPLETELY down – I can’t access the editor at all and people receive an error message when trying to visit them) about a dozen times that I’ve come across, sometimes for hours at a time. At other times they’ve been so slow that tiny little changes – adding a page to the menu, changing the order of pages in the menu – take minutes, and a page with nothing but a couple thousand words of text and one 200 kB image can take a minute or far, far more to load. Until I change hosts, I’ve essentially given up on my site – it’s excruciating to edit, and I do not want to market it for fear that somebody will attempt to view it for the first time, find it unavailable or unusable, and never return. Bluehost is the stuff of nightmares, and my primary goal in life right now is to find somebody reliable.
Good phone, email, and chat tech support, along with SSD-based hosting for faster performance, and a free SSL certificate round out the offerings, and earn 1&1 Hosting it’s well-deserved 4.6 out of five.
Migration or transfer services are often free or offered at a reasonable fee. These services help move your existing site to the new hosting provider. They can save a huge amount of hassle. Just remember that the migration process is often automated, and may fit in with the host’s processes and needs rather than yours. Not everything may migrate, and you may find the organization of the newly migrated site makes for harder maintenance in the long run.
We understand that choosing a web hosting provider can be a tough job with the vast amount of options available so we have provided you with some useful tricks and tips to help you make a smart decision and one that you will be happy with.
SSL (Secure Sockets Layer) encryption is the “s” in “https://” that gives your website its nice green browser padlock. It’s an absolute necessity for websites that deal with any sort of sensitive information, whether it’s credit card numbers or usernames and passwords. But it’s important beyond that, too: Google considers security as a factor for ranking, which means opting for SSL encryption doesn’t just ensure your visitors’ browsing actions can’t be seen by a nefarious third-party, it might also increase your site’s position in search results.
Windows is the operating system offered by Microsoft. If you want a server that can handle Windows applications, databases, and programming frameworks like ASP.NET, you will need a hosting plan that offers Windows. Note, however, that you still have the flexibility to utilize common web programming languages like PHP and MySQL.
A2 Hosting scores a top rating of 5 out of 5. That’s because it does a lot right and almost nothing wrong. The company offers much-faster SSD drives for all its plans, which can shorten site-loading time tremendously. It also has a semi-dedicated hosting offering, which is similar to a VPS, except that everything is controlled by cPanel or Plesk, which doesn’t require root-level knowledge.

If you’re like most people, then you probably thought: Why is there such a big price difference? Is managed WordPress hosting really that much better? Do I need managed WordPress hosting for my site? Is managed WordPress hosting worth the cost? If so, then which is the best managed WordPress hosting company?
It’s rare to find a web hosting provider that offers free trial periods, but luckily, money back guarantees are common. Typically, web hosts will allow you to sign up and purchase a plan, and if you find that what you bought isn’t the right option for you, you can take advantage of the money back guarantee to receive a full refund of the fees you paid.
Please understand that often the dividing line between optimized WordPress and managed WordPress is quite thin. You should contact a web host’s customer support team to learn the specifics of its WordPress hosting.

One thing I recommend is do your research on how easy it is to work with the host. I started a website back in 2009 (not using a host on this list). The price was good but the backend was terrible. I had them install WordPress, so I didn’t have to deal with their backend enough to care. Then I wanted to add another website to my hosting plan. It was a pain trying to figure out how to create a folder for the domain. I finally got it. A few months later I wanted to add another one. I had to go through the process all over again because it wasn’t intuitive enough for me to remember how to add the folder. I now have 6 sites on that plan. I’ve noticed some loading issues. I’ve also noticed that I can’t install some plugins because they require a higher version of PHP than what’s on my hosting plan. I asked them about this and they said I need to move to a newer server.
I think one more point to consider would be whether the host would do all the initial wordpress installations. This changes the whole equation as a user need not bother about the hard stuff (installing the blog, setting up email ids etc).
With ESI, you no longer have to designate an entire page as non-cacheable just because one portion cannot be cached. Instead you can easily designate portions of your page to be cached (or not cached) with ESI. This is significant especially for sites created by applications like Magento or WordPress.
If you want a website builder, you’ll be better off with FastComet (or a dedicated website builder). GlowHost only includes a “Site Publisher” tool. It’s enough to get a single information page, or a temporary status page up and running, but it won’t be much help if you want a fancier layout (read: multiple pages, buttons, or pictures).
You need a system administrator: Maintaining a server on a business-critical, public-facing site is not for the faint-hearted. With a VPS, every aspect of your site’s technical setup is your problem so you either need the technical chops to handle that with confidence or someone on your team who can take care of things.
Your A2 Optimized install, exclusive to A2 Hosting customers, provides auto-configuration for the most popular software including WordPress, Drupal, Joomla, PrestaShop and more so you get the best performance and most secure settings. With auto-optimizations like compression and caching, you can turn your focus to building your site, writing content and promotion.
Unlike VPS hosting, which is limited by the physical server on which your website is hosted, cloud hosting allows you to use resources offered by multiple machines. For example, if you find that your website is lagging because of lack of bandwidth, you can increase the amount available to you. Often, you can make this change yourself via the host’s control panel.
We use cloud hosting for Leadformly – a ‘software as a service’ (SaaS) tool we created to make it easy to build lead generation forms. We chose cloud hosting for Leadformly because on some days we could have hundreds of users logging in and building complex forms, while on other days it could be thousands. Cloud hosting means that we don’t need to worry about the tool slowing down during peak usage times.
